light over megapixels

about

most photography advice starts with the camera

settings

menus

features

it assumes that if you understand the tool,

you will understand the photograph

but that is backwards

a photograph begins with light

not megapixels

not specifications

not technology

light first

then exposure

then the image itself

that is what this site is about

what light over megapixels is

a simpler way to learn photography

not by collecting more tips

not by memorising settings

not by chasing better gear

but by understanding what actually shapes a photograph:

how light behaves

how the camera records it

how your choices turn it into an image

the aim is not more information

it is clearer seeing

why this site exists

modern cameras can do almost everything

that is useful

but it also makes photography harder to learn

too many options

too much automation

too much attention on equipment

it becomes easy to take photographs

without understanding why they work — or why they do not

this site steps back from that

it focuses on the fundamentals first

because once the foundations are clear,

everything else becomes easier to understand

how to use this site

start at the beginning

read slowly

each article builds on the one before it

this is not a reference guide

to dip in and out of at random

it is a way of building a mental model of photography:

from light

to exposure

to image

the goal is not speed

it is to see more clearly

my way of learning

i learned photography with simple film cameras and manual lenses

that limitation helped

it stripped photography back to its essentials:

light

timing

decision

those things mattered more than features, automation, or gear

light over megapixels is built on that way of seeing

it is an attempt to make photography simpler, clearer, and more coherent.
